Arrival at Amritsar

Prepare yourself to be spellbound by this trip, pack your bags and begin your journey from Mumbai.

Arrival at Amritsar. Pick-up by Happy Journey from the airport to the hotel. Guests then check-in to the hotel, where they stay overnight.

Amritsar- Dalhousie

See the Golden Temple in its shining glory and get a chance to be one with God. After that enlightening trip, travel to Dalhousie. Overnight stay at hotel.  

Experience: Guests are taken to the beautiful Golden Temple, a standing testimony to the beauty of the collaboration of Indian and Islamic architecture. Here, you can explore the complex and soak in beauty and peace. Later, you can also enjoy a free meal at the langar (community kitchen/ dining hall) in a massive hall that can seat around 3000 people. Voluntary workers called Sewadars work for almost 20 hours every day- preparing, cooking and cleaning-up- to make your experience at the Golden Temple a memorable one.   After a sumptuous meal, guests are taken to Dalhousie. Check-in at the hotel on arrival.  Spend some leisure time before dinner and overnight stay.

Dalhousie- Khajjiar- Dalhousie

Once you go to Khajjiar and the Lakkar Mandi, you’ll never want to leave. Fortunately, we have a lot more planned out for you.

Experience: After breakfast, guests will be taken to Khajjiar. At Khajjiar, enjoy lush greenery and breathe in fresh air courtesy of the thick deodhar forests on the slopes. After this refreshing experience, move to the Lakkar Mandi, where you enjoy a picturesque view of the mountains around. Post this, you return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Dalhousie- Dharamshala (110 km- 4 hours)

Serenity at its very best. If you’ve never seen a Tibetan monk before, get ready to see a whole lot of them at Dharamshala. We then get ready for a little cardio with a good view in the walk from Naddi to Bhagsu. Overnight stay at hotel.

Experience: After breakfast, proceed on a four hour journey to Dharamshala, which is the abode of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, the leader of the Tibetan community world-over. Dharamshala is renowned for its exquisite beauty and the monasteries build by the people over years. On arrival, guests check-in to the hotel.

In the evening, guests are taken on a two hour walk from Naddi to Bhagsu during which they get to take in the wonderful view of the Dhauladhar mountain range, the villages of Dharamkot and Bhagsu and they also get to see Buddhist monks retreating into the forest to meditate.

Dharamshala

We can’t let you leave with some memoirs and historical knowledge from the trip, so we’re taking you to the Norbulingka Institute and Museum of Kangra art. And then, if you’re lucky enough, you’ll get to see His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, actually preach. If not you can make peace with visiting the temple where he preaches, followed by an evening of shopping at the McLeod Ganj market.

Experience: In the morning, guests are taken on a tour to the Norbulingka Institute and the Museum of Kangra Art.

The Norbulingka Institute is known for promoting traditional Tibetan arts and crafts. Set in a complex replete with traditional Tibetan architecture, you will fall in love with the peaceful environment and the well-tended grounds. Here, you get a once in a lifetime opportunity to observe the creation of colorful Tantric Thangkas (embroidered wall hangings), paintings, metal ware, furniture and traditional garments. This institute also offers a number of workshops, training centres, a temple, a café and a doll museum. 

The Museum of Kangra Art houses an excellent collection of Kangra miniatures, as well as temple carvings, fabrics and embroidery, weapons and palanquins belonging to local Rajas; it also contains a school that teaches the art of miniature painting.

In the afternoon, guests are taken to the Dalai Lama Temple (Tsuglagkhang Temple). The Dalai Lama resides adjacent to the temple complex and also preaches at the temple. Guests also get to visit the Bhagsunag Temple, a small Shiva temple built by the Raja of Kangra in the 16th century.

In the evening, guests are free to wander around and shop in the McLeod Ganj market. From there, guests return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Dharamshala- Amritsar (140 km/ 5 hours)

If you want to see something more exciting than an India- Pakistan match, then Wagah border is the place to go.

Experience: Guests check-out from the hotel early in the morning. They then proceed to Amritsar and check-in at the hotel by afternoon. After lunch, guests proceed to the Wagah Border, an army outpost on the India-Pakistan border between Amritsar and Lahore. At the border, they can experience patriotism at its best by bearing witness to the lowering of the flags or the Beating Retreat ceremony. This grand ceremony is a daily military practice that symbolizes both the rivalry and the brotherhood between the two nations, where before sunset flags of both nations are lowered in a 45 minute ceremony consisting of marching, drum beats and military commands.

Departure from Amritsar

Guests are taken on a morning train from Amritsar to Mumbai, with memories of a beautiful journey that will be cherished forever.
